Aquia Inc. Announces Support of $26 Million CDC ReportStream Contract to Optimize and Enhance Data-Informed Decision-Making

Supporting Nava Public Benefit Corporation, the SDVOSB will bring DevSecOps expertise to the FHIR-based data pipeline, further streamlining the process of reporting public health data

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Oct. 25, 2024 -- Aquia Inc., a cloud and cybersecurity digital services firm, today announced its support of a 3-year, $26 million contract with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The contract aims to optimize and enhance ReportStream, a data pipeline based on the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard.

ReportStream plays a vital role in aggregating and delivering health care data from health organizations and testing facilities directly to state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) public health agencies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, ReportStream played a significant role in helping to track disease outbreaks.

As a subcontractor to Nava Public Benefit Corporation, Aquia will leverage its DevSecOps expertise to optimize the system, enhancing its efficiency and security.

“We’ve all seen how critical quick, accurate health data is — especially when a crisis hits,” said Matt Szubrycht, director of DevSecOps and site reliability engineering (SRE) at Aquia. “Our team is excited to bring our cloud and cybersecurity expertise to this modernization effort, expanding ReportStream and giving our health agencies the tools they need when it matters most.”

This project builds upon the CDC and Nava’s previous successes, which include saving 852,000 hours of manual reporting time and facilitating the delivery of 40 million test results. Aquia's involvement will focus on further streamlining the process of reporting public health data, reducing the burden on health care providers and public health agencies while improving the system's overall performance and security.
